Yes, it's true.

As the wise one Jane says "Nothing makes you forget about a boy like another boy."

So, Friday night I was out with my friend Katie and wound up caving in and calling Steve at like 1 in the morning. And... a girl picked up. This totally caught me off guard for 2 reasons. 1- it's not normal to pick up someone else's cell phone unless they tell you to. And 2- it was a freaking girl. My question is, what other girl on this planet would be stupid enough to find him attractive besides me??? So, needless to say I felt like a total jackass and was just like "ummm... I'll just call him tomorrow, thanks." Well, he called me back like a half hour later and was quite pleased with himself for having had a girl answer my phone call. What a bitch this boy is!

Then last night I'm out and who do I see at the bar? Yes, Mr. Steve looking gay as hell in a pale pink golf shirt. Don't get me wrong, I love the pink trend, but really, not every guy can pull it off. P. Diddy? Yes, he can rock the pink. Steve? Not at all!!! So we had quite a blast making fun of his gayness factor all night. But anyways, I decided that there was no need for me to go running over and say hello, so I waited to see if he'd come talk to me. His trusty sidekick Courtney said hello, but do you think he did? Nope. Before I knew it, he'd peaced out without so much as a wave. So of course I was super pissed and bitching about him to pretty much anyone/everyone who'd listen.

Including Bob. Who is a psuedo-friend of Steve (they're both really good friends with another guy, which has made them friends themselves.) So I'm bitching and Bob's just like "Nicole! I love the kid, but have you looked at him lately??? You can do SO much better!" And dammit, he's right. And dammit, he's cute! And dammit, he totally agreed that my positivity is completely wasted on that miserable fuck up Steve. So... I gave him my number and he kissed me. Oooooooh I'm so loving the evilness of this all!

Lately I've been having a grand old time running with my new mp3 player. It's just so fantastic, I honestly don't know how I used to run with a discman before. No skipping! And it straps to your arm so, nothing to hold! It's absolutely fabulous. So fabulous that my Dad, who's so technologically clueless he can't even turn on his cell phone without assistance, decided that he needed to get one too. Damn, my father is moving into this century!

I'm also loving running for another reason- the fact that I have a running buddy now. About 4 or 5 mornings a week I meet a lady I teach with for a run. She's just getting into excercising, and she's trying to lose like 50 lbs. So, we jog a slow mile together and then I go on ahead. But, it's great motivation for both of us. First off, it gets my ass out of bed. When you make plans to meet someone, you can't hit snooze and not show up. We usually try to go at a reasonable hour, but there have been days where I've been up on the boardwalk at 6:30 am, something I would so NOT be doing otherwise. Secondly, it's great to feel like you're helping to coach along someone who needs lots of motivation. Everyday she thanks me profusely just for showing up because if we didn't meet she'd never even think of exercising. And this week she worked her way up to 3 miles!!! She had to stop and walk a little, but still, when she told me, I was so proud!

In other news, my summer is so over! Wednesday, work begins. No more going out drinking midweek, no more lounging on the beach getting my tan on, no more bullshitting at my mindless summer job. Back to the real world people! And back to school! Yes, yours truly is officially a graduate student pursuing my Master's in special education. And I'm such a dork that I'm freaking excited to be a student again!
