12-01-2004 - 12:08 p.m. My God, it's already December! The Thanksgiving holiday was fantastic, particularly the 4 and a half days off from work. I managed to squeeze in some quality time with the fam, a lil ass shaking at da club, some good ol' Texas Hold 'Em, and some very drunken beer pong where I beat the shit out of my partner. (Literally- why am I so violent when drunk???) And yes, it's a Wednesday afternoon and I should be at work right now, but I had to take a day off to get caught up on all my end of the semester grad school work. I just don't have time to fit it all in! So, right now I'm taking a break in between writing papers. This past week I've miraculously transformed into a grownup! (Well, besides the beer pong and clubbing that is.) First off... I had a cooking lesson!!!!! And even more shocking... IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!! I'm doing this thing for my local paper where they teach people who are total retards in the kitchen how to cook a meal and then you have to recreate it later on your own without the help of the chef. So, tomorrow's my big night to cook alone, we'll see how it goes. But yeah, it was great fun and much less intimidating than I'd anticipated. Also, it was in this fabulous test kitchen at an appliance store that was totally straight out of the food network. I felt like Rachel Ray! My other big grownup move of the week was becoming a basketball coach. I'm assistant coaching the 7th and 8th grade girls team at the school where I work. Little did I know, but apparently middle school ballin' is hardcore!!! I spoke to the head coach for the first time last night and found out that he wants to practice 6 days a week so we can "catch up" to the other teams in the leaugue. Huh??? What??? Saturday at 9:00 am you want my ass running drills in the school gym? I'm usually still drunk at 9 on Saturday morning! Last year's coach ran a Monday through Thursday deal, and I thought that's what I was getting myself into. Apparently I signed up to coach the goddamn Olympic team. Should all be quite interesting... And finally after like a 2 month wait, my ruby red Uggs came in yesterday! Yes, they are ruby and magnificent! What will I ever wear red Uggs with? Yeah, I'm not sure either but they are mad cool. Randomly enough I hung out with blast from the past Ken last Tuesday and I must say it was fantastic to see him. He's definitely different from when I saw him last year. I guess it's the fact that he's in his 5th and thank God FINAL year of college and he just accepted a job offer. Last year we really weren't on the same page, but this time around things are different. He's definitely finally growing up, and unlike last time I saw him he didn't look like crap. Boyfriend's finally working that "style" he always claims to have (although I'm not sure about the blinging diamond stud earrings when you're about to start working for one of the biggest accounting firms in the nation). Hopefully we'll be hanging out more in the future, bling or no bling.
