Major changes are brewing in my world, so I figured it's time for an update.
First off, I'm leaving my current teaching job for a new one as of September. I'm moving on to the demon known as "middle school" to teach 7th and 8th grade Spanish. It could go one of two ways- I'll get along great with the kids, or they'll tear me a new one. The real reason I'm going for it is because I won't have to teach reading and math anymore... I'll finally get back to being a Spanish teacher, which is what I signed on for in the first place!
For the summer I'm working in a casino as a bartender, and so far I'm loving it. Casinos are truly another world, I can't even describe it. It's just a huge operation with employees to attend to each little detail that you don't even notice when you're just there to enjoy yourself. Plus it's great to watch people stand in line for over an hour to get their "free" toaster oven, patriotic doll, commemorative backpack or whatever giveaway of the day it happens to be and then feeling so content that they stop by the floor to drop $1,000 in a slot machine. Priceless!
Lately I've been on a string of bad dates that have resulted in countless stories for my friends to laugh at as well as a firm belief that I'm better off alone. Although at work the other day a man on the elevator told me he'd "do me good" so maybe there's hope yet :)
